Thrifty Thursday - Peplum Style Refashion

This gem is from the Goodwill Outlet.  Yes, the place where Goodwill rejects go.  They don't charge by the item there, but by the pound. $1.25/pound to be exact. Usually my dresses end up costing about 25-50 cents!

This one originally had sleeves, but I forgot and ripped them out before I took my "Before" pic.

I didn't really mind the embroidery around the neckline, but I wanted this top for a certain look, and embroidery didn't really go.  Soooo, I turned it inside out!  Luckily, this fabric was the same on both sides, so that worked.

After turning it inside out, I finished out the sleeves and I cut off most of the dress.  Then I used the fun little ruffle from the bottom to attach to the top for a peplum!  The last thing I had to do was take in the sides a couple inches and voila!  A cute little peplum top!

  5. I was wondering the same as Crissy and Jill- did you "see" that top initially when you saw the dress? Or did you tinker around with it and eventually come up with the idea? Regardless, it's adorbs! Love it!

    1. No I did not see that top when I bought it! I just saw a lot of pink fabric and knew I could do something with it! One day I really wanted a hot pink peplum top, so I dug through my goodwill bin and found this!
